FAQ

The watches

What size are EPOCH watches?

Our wristwatches range from 28mm to 42mm. The exact case width is listed on every product page. Pocket watches measure roughly 45mm to 50mm. If you are between sizes, we recommend going smaller for slim wrists and following the listed size for everyone else.

Are EPOCH watches mechanical or quartz?

Most of our wristwatches use Japanese quartz movements: precise, low maintenance, battery powered. A few pieces use mechanical movements where the era and design call for it. The product page lists the movement type for each watch.

Are they water resistant?

Our watches are splash resistant (3 ATM / 30 metres). They handle rain, hand washing and the occasional splash. They are not designed for swimming, showers or diving. Treat them the way you would treat a leather wallet.

What materials do you use?

Cases are surgical-grade stainless steel, often with rose gold or gold plating. Crystals are mineral glass, with sapphire on select pieces. Straps are full-grain Italian leather. Movements are Japanese quartz on most pieces and mechanical on a few.

Are the pocket watches functional?

Yes. Every pocket watch keeps time and comes with a chain. The hand-wound pieces need to be wound once every two to three days.

Are EPOCH watches actually antique?

No. Every piece is newly manufactured and unworn. They are designed in the spirit of their era using authentic vintage codes, but they are new watches built to last.

Returns and warranty

Can I return my watch?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to return any unworn watch for a full refund. Return shipping is at your cost unless the watch arrived damaged.

Is there a warranty?

Every EPOCH watch comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and movement failure. Wear and tear (scratches, strap wear, battery life) is not covered.

My watch arrived damaged. What now?

Email support@byepoch.com with photos within 7 days of delivery. We replace damaged-on-arrival pieces at no cost.

Care and maintenance

How do I clean my watch?

A soft dry cloth on the case. A slightly damp cloth on the leather strap, then dry it. Never submerge.

The battery died. What do I do?

Take it to any watchmaker. Our pieces use standard cell batteries (SR626SW or similar) that are sold everywhere. Replacement takes about ten minutes.

Can I change the strap?

Yes. Our straps use standard spring bars in 18mm, 20mm or 22mm depending on the piece. Any aftermarket leather or NATO strap of the right width will fit.

How long does the battery last?

Roughly two to three years on most pieces.
