1885 Industrial Dawn pocket watch from Berlin, Germany — EPOCH (side profile)
On the Bench

The watch that makes a man slow down.

You don't glance at a pocket watch. You reach for it. It rides in a pocket all day, then comes out for the moment that matters, and you read the hour the way men did before wrists. A gift that turns telling time into something worth watching.

The Detail

Heavier in the hand than it has any right to be.

The brass warms to your hand and earns a little more character every year you carry it, until it looks like yours and no one else's. The white railway dial reads clean and instant in any light, and the weight of it tells you this was built to be kept.

Owner Stories

Why they chose EPOCH

★★★★★

Like wearing a year

“It feels like wearing a piece of the year it's named after. The era settles into the wrist, and that's what stays with you.”

The detail is the point

“I bought it for the build. The detail is what stays. The dial, the case, the small things you only catch the second time you look.”

A collection, not a watch

“I bought one. A month later I wanted another decade. They turned what was a single purchase into a collection. I wasn't planning to start one.”

Mannheim, 1885

The year a horseless carriage answered the trains.

Karl Benz applied for the patent on January 29th, 1886, but the work was done across 1885: a three-wheeled vehicle in Mannheim that ran on petrol and would change every map that followed. Across the ocean, Mark Twain finished Huckleberry Finn. A century of motion had begun.

Pocket watches were still the most accurate instruments a person owned. They told the time, the longitude, and increasingly, the schedule of trains and ships that now ran on engineering, not estimates.
